“The best little Fly Shop on the Blackfoot River”

Established in April of 2000, the Blackfoot Angler & Supplies, in the easy paced town of Ovando, Montana, is a small, rustic fly shop that provides all those necessary items and assists anglers in fishing the Blackfoot River and its surrounding lakes and tributaries. We’re at the entry to the Bob Marshall Wilderness, next door to the North Fork of the Blackfoot and Monture Creek; close to Brown’s, and Upsata Lakes and just on the other side of the Divide from the Big Mo – Missouri River.

Owned by Travis Thurmond and Kathy Schoendoerfer, the Blackfoot Angler is located off Highway 200 between Lincoln and Clearwater Junction, and 60 miles from the metropolis of Missoula. It is situated amongst popular wade and float sites and boasts the best fly selection between Great Falls, Helena and Missoula.

We sell fishing and hunting licenses, flies for all seasons, accessories, boots, waders, lines, tippets, clothing and gifts: everything from bug repellent to gloves to logo’d hats and sweatshirts. Check us out! We can ship anywhere!

The Blackfoot River is enjoying some of the best fishing in decades due to habitat improvements and the hard work of individuals and local organizations, including the Big Blackfoot Chapter of Trout Unlimited, aka BBCTU, and the Blackfoot Challenge, who we fully support. The angler is an awesome fishing store located in the heart of the Blackfoot valley.  The proprietors, Kathy and Travis are wonderful people that you certainly need to meet.  They have lots of advice on where to fish, what to fish with, and can definitely help you and your party get whatever you need organized.  If you headed through Ovando, make sure to stop and say hello to them, and maybe buy some flies or other fishing goodies. — Scott W of Louisville, CO
